Halloween for Grownups

Halloween isn’t just for kids! Grownups love to get their ghoul on as much as the younger set. If you’re planning an adults-only Halloween party, here are just a few ways to add some spooky touches to your buffet table.

  • Some classic cocktail party foods have Halloween-ish names, making them perfect for serving to a group of grownup ghosts and goblins: deviled eggs, Devils on Horseback (broiled bacon-wrapped dates) and deviled ham (finely chopped ham mixed with mayonnaise and hot sauce to taste) served on biscuits are just a few options. And while not necessarily “Halloween” in name, chicken wings, cocktail meatballs, pizzas and quesadillas make terrific finger food for hungry “haunters.”
  • Hollow out a small pumpkin and fill it with spinach dip or cheese fondue. Place the filled pumpkin on a tray surrounded by tortilla chips (blue corn chips make a dramatic visual statement), assorted Pepperidge Farm® crackers or bread and fresh vegetables for a haunting Halloween snack.
  • Dessert doesn’t have to be Halloween candy! Of course, devil’s food cake is a perfect choice, but also delicious (and fun!) are creepy cupcakes and cheesecake.
  • For cocktails, serve Bloody Marys or, if you’re in the mood for something on the sweet side, hot cider or warm spiced juice.
