What a wonderful idea when you're leaving the kids with a sitter!  You can prepare the tasty beef filling ahead, and have the sitter reheat when the kids are hungry.

    tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 1

    medium onion, diced (about 1/2 cup)

  • 1

    pound ground beef, turkey or chicken

  • 1

    tablespoon chili powder

  • 1/2

    teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1/4

    teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed

  • 1/4

    cup Swanson® Beef Broth or Swanson® Beef Stock

  • 1

    dash ground black pepper

  • 8

    taco shellor 8-inch flour tortillas, warmed

How to Make It

Step 1

Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat.  Add the onion and cook until tender, stirring occasionally.  Add the beef to the skillet and cook until the beef is well browned, stirring often to separate meat.  Pour off any fat.

Step 2

Stir the chili powder, cumin, oregano and broth in the skillet and cook for 5 minutes. Season with the black pepper. Remove the skillet from the heat.

Step 3

Spoon the beef mixture into the taco shells.

Recipe Tips

    My whole family loved this meal! It was lighter than the packets, which made it easier to taste all the other ingredients.

    Babysitter Night Tacos

    These are very good! It really makes tasty tacos. I've done it with both chicken and beef. I've only made it with flour tortillas, not the shells.
