    So easy and so versatile!

I've made this for years and done it a variety of ways. You can throw it in a slow cooker (after browning meat) and add the cornbread just before serving (60 min. before on LOW and 30 min. before on HIGH). I usually double the recipe and use 1 lb of Conecuh sausage (Andouille is a fair substitute) instead of another pound of ground beef. Whatever you do, do NOT substitute cream of mushroom for the gravy. I tried that once and the flavor wasn't nearly the same. You'd think it would be good, but it was a fail. You can even use gravy packets and the water. Just use gravy, by gosh! The BBQ sauce adds a great flavor. I also throw in a tsp of Mesquite smoke too, if I have it on hand. I've even added hot sauce to kick it up a notch. It's just so versatile! A great side is some sweet and tangy slaw.

Tastes even better than it sounds!

I was a little hesitant about making this, wasn't sure about the taste of gravy with bbq sauce in it. I was following the recipe exactly, until I got to the cornbread mix. I made a mistake on the milk, instead of 1/3 cup, I added 2/3 cup. Not realizing my mistake, I mixed it up, and started wondering why it was so runny. DAH! So I added another box of cornbread mix, with the intentions of making some extra cornbread. Once I started dipping, I used the whole thing on the casserole. It wound up with a lot of cornbread, but tasted great and we had seconds. I will definitely be making this again, and next time using the correct amount of cornbread mix.

    Easy and yummy

The first time I made it the kids hated it because of the beans. The second time I blended them into the gravy and they never knew they were there. They ate it and loved it!

    Quick, easy and very yummy!

I tried out this recipe tonight and absolutely loved it. It was simple enough and didn't take very long to make at all. It even got a "you need to add this to your recipe book" from my boyfriend. That's a definite sign that this recipe is a keeper! :)
