Take the stress out of weeknight dinners with our Broccoli Mac & Cheese recipe. This 6-ingredient recipe will take you just minutes to pull together. Our recipe uses Prego Artisan Four Cheese sauce as the base to make this Mac & Cheese recipe extreme creamy and packed with flavor.  We added Cheddar cheese to makes it the cheesiest and a Panko crumb topping to give it a delicious crunch.  Broccoli is a natural in this recipe but feel free to add your favorite veggies, or you can make this dish it even heartier by adding cooked ham or chicken. Comfort food at its finest!

    ounces uncooked cavatappi pasta

  • 1

    package (about 12 ounces) frozen broccoli florets or 4 cups fresh broccoli florets

  • 1/2

    cup Italian seasoned panko bread crumbs

  • 2

    tablespoons butter, melted

  • 1 3/4

    cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (about 7 ounces)

How to Make It

Step 1

Cook the cavatappi according to the package directions, using a 4-quart saucepan.  Add the broccoli to the saucepan during the last 3 minutes of the cooking time.  ​Drain the cavatappi and broccoli in a colander, reserving 1/2 cup cooking liquid.  Return the drained cavatappi and broccoli to the saucepan.

Step 2

While the cavatappi is cooking, heat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 11x8x2-inch baking dish with vegetable cooking spray.  Stir the panko, butter and 1/4 cup cheese in a small bowl.

Step 3

Add the sauce, the remaining 1 1/2 cups cheese and the reserved pasta water to the saucepan and toss to coat.  Season to taste.  Pour the cavatappi mixture into the baking dish.  Top with the panko mixture.

Step 4

Bake for 25 minutes or until hot and the panko mixture is golden brown.  Serve hot. 

Recipe Tips

  • Flavor Variation: For a heartier dish, stir 1 cup cubed cooked ham into the pasta mixture before baking.

    Everyone in my family loved it!

    If you make this as is its more of a side than main meal. I made it as a main dish for my 3 picky eaters and my husband so I doubled the pasta and instead of using 2 cans of cheese sauce I used just the one and the entire 12oz shredded cheese instead of the 3oz in the original recipe. Everyone cleaned there plates. I recommend this recipe to all with picky little eaters.
