We love this stuff so much! I've made it a dozen times or more. I've never used meatballs, and instead use a pound of hamburger. I used to always get pasta shells for this recipe, but I had a whole bunch of elbow macaroni on hand and have used that the past few times. It's a very yummy meal. I suggest adding salt, but you can always add salt later!

I just made this and my kids LOVED it. I replaced the meatballs with chicken breasts cut into cubed pieces about an inch thick. I didn't use the cheese soup. Instead, I used cream of chicken and added shredded cheeses 3 kinds - cheddar, mozzarella, and Colby Jack and heated it all together until well blended. Lots of room to tweak, but a great recipe!

I'm not one to follow recipes to a "T", but I did on this one. We are getting stuck in a bit of a rut at dinner, this sounded like a simple solution. I WAS SO WRONG! This was tasteless, the only thing you had was texture. To make it edible we had to put so much salt on it, and then it was inedible. My two teenagers were scandalized that I was able to make something this horrible. If you want to relive school cafeteria food, this is the recipe for you. If you would prefer something better, make a quick roux and mix in some cheese then add your pasta and ground beef. If that's too much make Kraft Mac N Cheese and just add hamburger.
