A food processor makes this a very easy relish -- although you can chop the ingredients by hand. The relish tastes refreshing with the Thanksgiving meal and is dynamite on turkey sandwiches!

    medium orange, unpeeled, cut into wedges, seeds removed

    ounces fresh cranberries

How to Make It

Step 1

Place half the orange and half the cranberries into a food processor.  Cover and process until the mixture is coarsely chopped.  Spoon the orange mixture into a bowl.  Repeat with the remaining orange and cranberries.

Step 2

Stir in the sugar, 1/4 cup at a time, until desired sweetness.  Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 days.

    OMG....PEEL AND SKIN THE ORANGES!!!! WE ADD PEELED, CHOPPED APPLES AND CHOPPED PECANS. IMPORTANT TIP: FREEZE THE CRANBERRIES BEFORE GRINDING THEM IN A FOOD PROCESSOR. This modified recipe has been tradition in our family for 40 years now and we never fail to make it for our holiday dinners. We ALWAYS add peeled, chopped fresh apples and chopped pecans to the recipe. Be sure to make it at least one day ahead and store it in the fridge to allow the mixture to ferment a bit before serving. TIP: freeze the cranberries before grinding them in the food processor!!!!!! It makes a HUGE difference in easy prep and reduces the mess by a mile! Add enough granulated suger to sweeten to your tastes, (you may need to increase the amount a little) but note that it will become just a little bit sweeter as it forments. Guests over the years have always fallen in love with our version of this delicious cranberry salad and always beg the recipe. I hope you will give it a try....it's 5 star all the way.
