When you start with our cream of mushroom soup it makes it easy to make something a little adventurous.  Just one or two ingredients can transform our soup into an authentic ethnic dish.  For a little taste of India just add some curry powder and peas to the base recipe.

How to Make It

Step 1

Season the chicken.  Heat the oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat.  (Make sure the skillet and oil are hot before adding the chicken- it will jump start the browning and prevent the chicken from sticking.)  Add the chicken and cook for at least 3 minutes before turning (if it doesn't turn easily give it another minute on that side) then cook until both sides are well browned.  Remove the chicken from the skillet.

Step 2

Add the curry powder to the skillet and cook and stir for 1 minute.  Add the water and heat to a boil, stirring to scrape up the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.  Stir in the soup and peas and heat to a boil.

Step 3

Return the chicken to the skillet.  Reduce the heat to medium-low.  Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. Season to taste.

Recipe Tips

  • For even more authentic flavor, replace the water with coconut milk.

    I like chicken from my childhood whenever chicken is prepared at home, I used to wait for my mother's call. PunamPaul.com have your lunch or dinner and I was the first to reach the table. Being a teen my mother used to tell me the nutrition advantage of veggies, but I start telling to her that skinless chicken provides the least amount of calories and fat, about 143 calories, 3g total fat and 1g saturated fat for half of a large boneless, skinless breast, or a 95g serving. Mom knows I love chicken too much thus she used to start her food with a smile and we all enjoy our diet together. My mom is a great chef and use to cook many recipes of chicken the recipe shared by you with peas sauce seems delicious and will surely try at home.

    Needs Tweeking, but Really Good!

    I used bone-in Chicken thighs during cook process, added 1 small diced yellow potato, 1 small diced carrot, 1/4 small diced onion, and 1 diced garlic clove. Sauted those first, then added the chicken. Followed the directions through that point, but added 1 tea chili powder to spice it up, used coconut milk instead of water, and lots of salt and pepper to taste. DELICIOUS!

    I made this for dinner tonight and my husband and I both enjoyed this a lot! It was easy to make, quick for after work. I love the mild curry taste this offered up and flavorful but pretty healthy meal. Thanks!
