    pound bulk pork sausage

    slices Pepperidge Farm® White Sandwich Calcium Enriched Bread, cut into cubes (about 6 cups)

  • 1 1/2

    cups shredded Cheddar cheese(about 6 ounces)

    cup Pace® Picante Sauce - Medium

How to Make It

Step 1

Cook the sausage in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until well browned, stirring often to separate meat. Pour off any fat.

Step 2

Spoon the sausage into an 11 x 7 x 2-inch baking dish. Top with the bread cubes and cheese. Beat the picante sauce, eggs and milk in a medium bowl with a fork or whisk. Pour the picante sauce mixture over the bread mixture. Stir and press the bread mixture into the picante sauce mixture to coat.  Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.

Step 3

Heat the oven to 350°F.  Uncover the baking dish.

Step 4

Bake for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Recipe Tips

  • Make-Ahead: Prepare this dish the night before and pop it into the oven in the morning. It's great for when you have overnight guests. Add a simple side of sliced melon and breakfast is ready!

    Delish w/ some Changes

    This is a fan favorite with my family every holiday breakfast gathering!! We do NOT refrigerate overnight to avoid the sogginess and also spice it up with some hot salsa or Rotel. DELISH!

    For me the bottom never got done, it was very saugy the rest was done.

    It was easy to put together. the flavors was very good together. The bottom was just mushy. Next time I will put the bread on top and drizzle with butter and make it nice and crisp. Thanks, Happy Cooking!

    its good

    At first when you take it out of oven it looks soggy on the inside, so I taught it wasn't going to be good. But you have to let it stand for a while then it thickens and it is good. I gave it a quick mixed let the steam get out, it thicken fast. Kids loved it, hubby says its a keeper. :-) I made it a day before and in the morning just popped it in the oven hassle free. Was able to do some work while breakfast was been cooked. Priceless!
