French Dip Dumplings

French Dip Dumplings

4.38 8

French dip is always a favorite choice, but our version is not only easy, but creative and delicious too! Refrigerated biscuits encase a savory filling of deli roast beef sautéed in a French onion soup mixture and shredded cheese. They’re baked until golden and ready for dipping in the reserved French onion soup. Bottom line....they’re super tasty!

  • 1

can (10 1/2 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed French Onion Soup

  • 1

    cup water

  • 3/4

pound thinly sliced deli style roast beef (16 thin slices)

  • 1

package (16 ounces) refrigerated jumbo biscuit dough (8 biscuits)

  • 1

cup shredded Italian cheese blend (about 4 ounces)

How to Make It

Step 1

Heat the oven to 350°F.

Step 2

Heat the soup and water in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat to a boil.  Reduce the heat to medium.  Add the beef and cook for 5 minutes or until the mixture is hot.

Step 3

Pat or roll the biscuit dough into 8 (5-inch) circles.  Using a slotted spoon, spoon the beef in the centers of the dough circles (Reserve the soup mixture and keep warm).  Sprinkle each with 2 tablespoons cheese.  Gather the sides of the dough circles up to the center over the filling to form a pouch and twist to seal.  Place the dumplings onto a baking sheet.

Step 4

Bake for 15 minutes or until the dumplings are golden-brown.  Serve with the reserved soup mixture for dipping.

    Improve with frozen rolls.

This is a great, easy & tasty recipe, but better if made with frozen rolls rather than biscuits. It does take a bit longer because you have to let the dough rise after fashioning the dumplings, but worth the wait.

    very good french-style dip

While the roast beef is simmering, add 4 shakes of Worcestershire sauce, 4 shakes of low sodium soy sauce and 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. Beau Monde seasoning to the soup mix, This makes a very tasty dip for the meat and cheese dumplings. I also used 2 cans of soup to have enough sauce.
