How to Make It

Step 1

Lightly oil the grill rack and heat the grill to medium.  Grill the pineapple for 5 minutes or until tender, turning it over once halfway through the grill time.  Remove the pineapple to a cutting board.  Dice the pineapple.  Stir the pineapple and 2/3 cup salsa in a medium bowl.

Step 2

Thoroughly mix the beef and the remaining salsa in a large bowl.  Shape the beef mixture into 4 (1/2-inch-thick) burgers.

Step 3

Grill the burgers for 10 minutes for medium or until desired doneness, turning the burgers over once halfway through the grill time.  Top the burgers with the cheese.

Step 4

Serve the burgers on the buns.  Top with the avocado and the pineapple-salsa mixture.

    Yummy and easy!!

    My husband and I love this recipe very much. We are on the Atkins diet plan, (and have been doing very well by the way) so we simply omit the bun. Great flavors, easy to make and we can stick to our diet.

    Grilled Maui Burgers

    Quick, easy and full of flavor. I'm pretty new to cooking different meals but this one was no trouble at all. The picante and pineapple go together really well but I'd suggest maybe mashing the avocado and spreading it on the bun as opposed to just setting it on the top, that way you get some of it in every bite.
