tablespoon baking powder
teaspoons chopped fresh dill weed
cup Crisco® vegetable shorteningor Crisco® all vegetable shortening stick
cup shredded yellow Cheddar cheeseor Swiss cheese (about 2 ounces)
Stir the flour, baking powder, dill and salt in a large bowl. With a pastry blender, two knives or a fork, cut in the shortening until the mixture looks like coarse meal. Stir in the cheese.
Add the milk and stir just until the dough holds together. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead it lightly. Roll the dough to 3/4-inch thick. Cut with a floured biscuit cutter, pushing straight down and place the dough rounds on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake at 425°F. for 12 to 15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown.
