    can Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup or Campbell's® Condensed 98% Fat Free Cream of Mushroom Soup

  • 3/4

    cup Pace® Picante Sauce - Medium

  • 3/4

    cup sour cream

  • 1

    tablespoon chili powder

  • 2

    medium tomato, chopped (about 2 cups)

  • 3

    cups cubed boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked or turkey

  • 12

    corn tortilla(6-inch), cut into 1-inch pieces

  • 1

    cup shredded Cheddar cheese(about 4 ounces)

  • 2

    green onion, sliced (about 1/4 cup)

How to Make It

Stir the soup, picante sauce, sour cream, chili powder, tomatoes and chicken in a medium bowl. Place half the tortillas in a 2-quart shallow baking dish. Top with half the chicken mixture. Repeat the layers. Sprinkle with the cheese. Bake at 350°F. for 40 minutes or until the mixture is hot and bubbling.  Sprinkle with the green onion.  Serve with additional picante sauce and sour cream.
Step 1

    a good base recipe

    I would never make and serve "as is" too bland for my crowd...speaking of which....even with a side salad and tortillas or cornbread as sides, there is NO way the 6 in my household would be satisfied....never mind trying to feed 8!! That is one constant complaint that I have with these recipes; they have half the number of servings stated. I added 3 seeded and diced jalapeno peppers....other peppers as i have on hand, especially poblano and a finely diced chipotle pepper. About a tsp of cumin and a generous handful of fresh cilantro. Absolutely must add a good sized onion and a can (or 2) of black beans. I use 2 cans of cream of chicken....the mushroom is not compatible with the rest of my additions! Also increase the salsa and sour cream to one cup each and about double the meat. With all of this, we have enough for 6 with sides...and maybe enough for someone to carry the next day for lunch. ( 4 of the 6 in my family are underweight...the other 2 are average eating this much on a regular basis!)

    Yummy!

    I used a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of cream of chicken soup, 1 can Rotel tomatoes and green chilies ( undrained), 1 Tbsp. chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, turkey chunks, and garlic and black bean tortilla chips in place of the flour tortillas. My husband really loved this dish. It can also be made with beef and chicken. It is a great dish to serve and I will be making it again.

    Super easy & delicious!

    I took advice from other reviewers and added a can of cream of chicken soup, and used a can of rotel instead of the Pace sauce. I also used a packet of taco seasoning, instead of the chili powder, and added about 1/4 tsp of ground cumin, and a can of sliced black olives. I served this with tortilla chips. My husband and our 14 & 5 yr old kids loved it! Even my 17 month old toddler ate it all up! For my family full of picky eaters, this will be a new staple dinner in our house!

    Easy to make and tasty. Tweaked a little

    My husband, 6 yr old daughter, and sister loved it! She is making my version tonight! :-) I am making this for the second time this week. I added some items. I added a can of cream of chicken, 1 yellow onion, spinach and rotel chilies. (I did not use the green onion or picante sauce). This made the mixture very creamy. I used tortilla chips instead of corn tortillas. I added the chicken mixture first, tortillas next and then the cheese last. I added the remaining chicken mixture and baked for 40 minutes. Lastly, I added more tortillas chips and cheese on top and baked until the cheese melted. It was so delicious. This time I added some cooked spiral pasta.
