How to Make It

Step 1

Cook the sausage, onion and garlic powder in a 4-quart saucepan over medium-high heat until the sausage is browned, stirring often to separate meat. Pour off any fat.

Step 2

Stir the Italian sauce and broth in the saucepan and heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 10 minutes. Add the beans and cook until they're heated through.

    Yummy!

Definitely perfect for a chilly week night dinner because it's so easy. I changed it up a little and used a pound of ground hot sausage and added two stalks of chopped celery. I also used a half a can of black and a half a can of white beans because my husband doesn't care for beans. I served it with garlic bread and it was a hit. My husband, the non bean lover, loved it!

    wonderful soups

I use a sixteen packaged bean soup,to my slow cooker and then add a cut open ham hock, add an onion and let it cook for several hours, just delicious, cut off and discard the fat from the hock put the meat back into the slow cooker ,mix it all up and enjoy !Usually a seasoning packet is included with the bean soup mix but it does contain a lot of salt but it really adds flavor to the soup so it is up to the cook to decide to add it or not.I love to use powders not the salt flavored seasonings..this would be excellent with corn bread !
