Dinnertime is so much easier when you start with perfectly seasoned Prego sauce.  5 ingredients and 25 minutes from skillet to table and you’ve got a dinner that everyone will love.  It’s the answer to the “what’s for dinner?” question on those busy weeknights.  We used ground beef, but ground chicken, turkey or sausage will work just as well.

    ounces uncooked tube-shaped pasta (ziti) (about 2 1/2 cups)

    tablespoon olive oil

  • 1

    medium onion, diced (about 1/2 cup)

  • 1

    pound ground beef

  • 1

    jar (24 ounces) Prego® Traditional Italian Sauce or Prego® Fresh Mushroom Italian Sauce

How to Make It

Cook and drain the ziti according to the package directions.  While the ziti is cooking, heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat.  Add the onion and cook for 5 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Season the beef with salt and pepper.  Add the beef to the skillet and cook until well browned, stirring often to separate meat.  Pour off any fat.   Stir in the sauce and cooked ziti and cook until hot.  Season to taste. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving, if desired.

Recipe Tips

  • Make it your own by topping with dollops of ricotta cheese or sliced fresh basil or stir in chopped salami, mushrooms or spinach.

    Meat prep

    Fry up your ground beef with the diced onion to help flavor it. A hefty sprinkling of garlic powder can really step up the flavor, too.

    Good Stuff!

    This was easy and very good. A sort-of stick-to-your-ribs kind of dinner. I cooked this recipe with ground turkey and it made no difference! and it was great.

    Easy

    This was an easy to make recipe but I agree that it should just be call basically spaghetti with a variation on the type of pasta used. Only reason I would make again would be in a pinch. Very disappointed.
