How to Make It

Step 1

Cook the beef, onion and carrots in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until the beef is well browned, stirring often to separate meat.  Pour off any fat.

Step 2

Stir the picante sauce in the skillet and heat to a boil.  Reduce the heat to low.  Cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, adding the water if needed until desired consistency.

Step 3

Place the penne and cilantro into a large bowl.  Add the beef mixture and toss to coat.

    Added twist!

Yep! Season your ground beef. I used cumin, garlic powder, chili powder, and Tony's. I mixed in Swiss cheese. It was a hit! I'll make it again. Oh, I substituted another cup of medium Pace and didn't use the water the recipe called for. Turned out GREAT y"all!

    Okay

This recipe is okay. I read it was a little bland so I added in a package of Mexican cheese mix. It was good, but still a little bland. Next time I make it, I'm going to try using taco seasoning in the beef and a little less cilantro.
