How to Make It

Step 1

Thoroughly mix the beef, 1/2 cup soup, bread crumbs, egg, onion, Worcestershire sauce and black pepper in a large bowl. Place the beef mixture into a shallow 3-quart baking pan and shape firmly into an 8 x 4-inch loaf.

Step 2

Bake at 350°F. for 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through. Let the meatloaf stand for 10 minutes before slicing.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons pan drippings, remaining soup and water in a 1-quart saucepan over medium-high heat until the mixture is hot and bubbling. Serve the soup mixture with the meatloaf.

    don't use a baking dish!

I form the meatloaf by hand and place on a baking rack in a pan (with sides) so the fat can drain off of the meatloaf. I just can't stand meat sitting in a pool of fat. Bleck!

    A variation

This is a good recipe, but I like two changes: 1. Add (substitute) some ground pork to the ground beef. 2. Instead of tomato soup, use vegetarian vegetable. This gives the meat loaf a little more flavor and nutrition. Finally, if you like a little more zip, add a few dashes of Tabasco.

    omg yum

This is the best meatloaf ever. My husband always hated meatloaf growing up because his mothers was awful. He loves this recipe and asks for it at least once a week. I love it too and so easy. Very comforting food. Serve with mashed potatoes and veggies.

Try using crushed Ritz crackers instead of bread crumbs. I also add some grated carrots. Yummy! Campbell's tomato soup does add such a wonderful flavor. Spread some of the soup on the top of the meatloaf before baking.

    I love this Meatloaf recipe

About a year ago we lost this recipe and I searched for it here a few times thinking it was listed under Simple, Easy but could not find it. I tried again today and decided to stop looking for the title and began to check the ingredients and found it. I can't wait to make this again. It is so easy and so good! It reminds me of the way my Mom used to make it.
