How to Make It

Step 1

Thoroughly mix the beef, bread crumbs, onion, egg and water in a medium bowl and shape firmly into 4 (1/2-inch thick) oval patties.

Step 2

Heat the oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 10 minutes or until well browned on both sides. Pour off any fat.

Step 3

Add the gravy and heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 10 minutes or until the patties are cooked through.

    Hid a serving, was so good.

    This recipe was easy and made large servings. Like Beachwaves i used Golden Mushroom on the bottom of the pan but poured brown gravy on top which added depth and made a beautiful dark golden brown gravy. I took one serving and Immediately hid it way back in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch. A Hit!

    Easy & delicious

    First time making Salisbury Steak and it turned out great! I made some changes to the recipe. Didn't use the water. I used Pepperidge Farm Stuffing Mix instead of bread crumbs. I also used a pack of Lipton onion soup mix, sprinkled in some all-purpose flour and Worcestershire sauce. I also seasoned my meat with some of my seasonings. I removed my patties out of the skillet, poured out grease & wiped skillet out before putting patties back in. I use frozen onions so I put those in the mixture & when I poured my gravy on the meat I added more of the onions into the gravy! This will definitely be in the rotation!!

    Dinner Made Easy

    I love the taste and smell of these I make them a often with mash potatoes and a vegetable very easy dinner.

    No Left overs

    I made this tonight for dinner. The only thing that I did different was I added a can of Campbell's Golden Mushroom soup to the bottom of the pan with a splash of water to dilute the soup and then I poured the Campbell's beef gravy on top. I put some away to take to work with me. When I woke up I was told that the dinner was so good that they even ate what I was going to take to work.

    Comfort Food’s Finest

    I often have to shop on a very tight budget, so this recipe was perfect for my nearly empty pockets. I did make a few changes to the recipe though, because that’s just what I do. I used more like 3/4 of a cup of breadcrumbs, two eggs, and I sautéed the onions until they were a nice, light-brown color, and very aromatic. I also seasoned the beef mixture with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Then, instead of using a can of brown gravy, I made gravy from scratch using a packet of French onion soup mix, approximately a teaspoon of Gravy Masters, and a slurry made with cornstarch and water. The final product was not only delicious, but very belly warming, and filling! Will definitely make this meal again!
