tablespoons chili powder
teaspoon ground chipotle chile powder
large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
pounds beef for stew, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
can (about 15 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
cup shredded Cheddar cheese(optional)
cup sour cream(optional)
Stir the picante sauce, water, chili powder, ground chipotle, onion, beef and beans in a 3 1/2-quart slow cooker.
Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 9 hours or until the beef is fork-tender. Serve with the cheese and sour cream, if desired.
