It lacks flavor so I say this is a great base recipe to start out with

I made it exactly as the recipe calls for before and it was bland. I made it a second time with 1/2 green bell pepper, 1 sm. onion, about 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce, a couple of tsp. brown sugar, with seasoning salt and pepper. It was fabulous! I say this is a great base recipe to start out with and just pay around with it and make it to your likings.

Like my mother usede to make, except she called it Taverns

These are very delicious and easy to make. My mother, back in the 1940's would make these on Friday nights when we all had after school activities. Except as I mentioned she calle43d them Taverns. All her children (there were 6) would do the follow in her footsteps when they had their had families

    Recipe was really good.

Enjoyed thiis receipe very much; but, I added a can of Minestrone Soup to it as well as the Tomato Soup. Back in the sixties my Mother used to make us sloopy sandwiches with Minestone Soup so I decided to add. In addition, I used hot dog sandwich buns with seasame seeds and topped with a slice of American cheese but the next time I am going to use Cheddar Cheese.

    A Variation of this

It seems to me there was a recipe on a soup can years ago (back in the '80s) very similar to this. The main difference was it was made with Cream of Mushroom soup, and it also called for a bit of ketchup. It was called Souper Burgers. My kids were crazy about it. I've been searching for it for years as I lost my original copy. I think I'll use this recipe and just substitute mushroom soup and see how it turns out.
