How to Make It

Step 1

Heat the butter in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat.  Add the chicken and cook for 10 minutes or until well browned on both sides.

Step 2

Stir the soup, water, brown sugar and vinegar in the skillet and heat to a boil.  Reduce the heat to low.  Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.  Serve the chicken and sauce with the rice.

Recipe Tips

  • Serving Suggestion: Serve with roasted carrots and crusty bakery wheat rolls. For dessert serve chocolate pudding with whipped cream.
  • Ingredient Note: We develop our recipes using a 4-to 5-ounce skinless, boneless chicken breast half per serving. However, there are a range of sizes available in-store, from the butcher counter to the meat case and the freezer section. Use whichever you prefer- just follow the recipe as written above for the best result. If you're using larger chicken breasts they may require a little longer cooking time.

    Great Stuff

This recipe is a simple, very easy way to make dinner. I use the boil in bag brown rice instead of white rice. That is the only difference.

    Good base

Good and easy. Like others have said increase to sugar and vinager. If you still believe it missing something. Add a splash of sherry or white wine

Sorry I wasted my time and money on ingredients

This recipe sounded too easy to be good. I was right. Tasted like chicken thrown into tomato soup; the vinegar & sugar added very little to the flavor. Apparently I'm not alone, reading some of the other comments...they added this, more of that, etc. I'm a big fan of cooking with cream of chicken or mushroom for an easy meal, but the tomato soup overpowers the taste. I tried adding more ingredients, doctor it up, but it was still awful. Sorry, but I just threw away money on groceries for a recipe I wish I never tried.

    We liked it

I went along with everyone else with the brown sugar & vinegar and for an added twist had some lo mien noodles, which i tossed with some soy sauce before I mixed it together on my plate ( just in case it was yucky) it was awesome, next i'll try it as a stir fry see how that is. Thanks for the great easy a yummy recipes Campbell's you make it look like I can cook.

    Good dish. Add more.

It was easy to make this dish. My wife doubled the brown sugar and vinegar as suggested by another review and that did the trick. We enjoyed the meal and will indulge in it again!!
