    ounces Store-bought or homemade cream cheese frosting

How to Make It

Step 1

Heat the oven to 350°F.  Place liners into 24 (2 1/2-inch) muffin-pan cups.

Step 2

Combine the cake mix, soup, water and eggs in a large bowl and mix according to the package directions. Spoon the batter into the muffin-pan cups.

Step 3

Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a cupcake comes out clean.

Step 4

Let the cupcakes cool in the pans on wire racks for 10 minutes. Remove the cupcakes from the pans and let cool completely.

Step 5

Frost with the cream cheese frosting.

Recipe Tips

  • Flavor Variation: After frosting, you can sprinkle the cupcakes with toasted chopped pecans or walnuts.

    Excellent taste and so moist!

    Had this recipe years ago but lost it in house fire. So glad to see it again. Was a favorite with husband and guests always asked for recipe. Thank you so much for offering it again! I won't lose it again!

    Terrific cake!

    I have quite a few cans of tomato soup in the house and was looking for some recipe ideas. Who'd have thought a dessert recipe would come up in my search on the Campbell's site? I followed the recipe as outlined, but as another reviewer did, I baked a 13x9 cake (300 degrees convection for 30 min - basically minding the box directions). For the box cake mix I used, the soup takes the place of 1 extra egg and the oil. You cannot taste the soup at all, and the cake is delicious. My kids liked it, too, and both were skeptical. I plan to bake this cake for our various bake sales and cake walks ay church. Would love to see more recipes like this.

    People do not believe there is tomato soup in these cupcakes!! I think the soup makes these very moist.

    Tomato Soup Spice Cupcakes

    I didn't make the cupcakes, but instead baked the cake in a dark nonstick pan. I had to adjust the cooking time to about 35 minutes. I allowed to cool and topped with cream cheese frosting and it's absolutely delicious! I'll definitely make again!
