Broccoli & Garlic Penne Pasta

This easy skillet pasta dish is perfect for those busy weeknights when you're in a pinch for time. Tender, garlicky broccoli gets tossed with penne pasta and a bit of lemon juice for a delicious dish the whole family will enjoy!

  • 1 cup Swanson® Chicken Broth or Chicken Stock
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves, crushed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 8 ounces (about 3 cups) penne pasta, cooked and drained
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese


  • Step 1

    Heat the broth, basil, garlic and broccoli in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low.  Cover and cook until the broccoli is tender-crisp.

  • Step 2

    Add the penne and lemon juice and toss to coat. Season to taste.  Sprinkle with the cheese.

    This is one of my favorite recipies. I add more seasonings to ramp up the flavor! it is quick easy and delicious!!!!!!

    So I followed the basic recipe but tweaked it a bit and both my roommate and I found it very flavorful. I added some ground Italian herbs instead of basil, 3 cloves of garlic, 1.5 cups of chicken broth, and a ton of lemon juice--maybe 1/3 cup--I just eyeballed it. I also doubled the pasta because we're carb addicts. Then once it was done I covered it with shredded cheese liberally. Definitely will make this again!
