Everyone loves chicken salad. This Classic Chicken Salad recipe takes a classic and makes it better! Using canned chicken makes it super quick and easy to make- it's ready in just 10 minutes. Start with the usual ingredients, chicken, mayonnaise, celery and onion, then add a whole new layer of flavor with lemon juice and lemon pepper seasoning. The bright pop of lemon in the chicken salad makes a chicken salad sandwich that works perfectly with hearty multigrain bread, but you can really serve it any way you want- as is, over greens, or with crackers for dipping.  This is one of the best chicken salad recipes you’ll try - there's no wrong way to enjoy this Classic Chicken Salad.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (12.5 ounces) Swanson® Premium White Chicken Breast in Water, drained
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 stalks celery, finely chopped (about 1/2 cup)
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrot (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 dash lemon pepper seasoning
  • 8 slices Pepperidge Farm® Whole Grain 15 Grain Bread

  • Tips

    • Make it a melt!  Reduce the bread to 4 slices.  Divide the chicken mixture among 4 bread slices and top with the cheese.  Bake at 375°F for 8 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  • Step 1

    Stir the chicken, mayonnaise, celery, onion, carrot, if desired, lemon juice and seasoning in a bowl.

  • Step 2

    Divide the chicken mixture among 4 bread slices.  Top with remaining bread slices.
