The Connection Keeper is a simple, AI-free, screen-free device designed to help families create an audio scrapbook of the moments that matter most. It captures the everyday conversations you wish to preserve — your kids’ voices, the “how was your day” chats, the laughter and stories shared around the table — so you can revisit them for years to come. With just the press of a button, families can record meaningful moments in real time. The device is not connected to the internet and does not use Wi-Fi or AI, allowing you to capture memories without phones, screens, or distractions getting in the way.

That is why we’ve partnered with StoryCorps for Mother’s Day to help families preserve some of these memories.

The Connection Keeper is an audio recorder designed with your privacy in mind. The device only works when you choose to activate it. And with no internet connection, all recordings stay at the dinner table unless you say they can leave.

It is completely screen-free, with no internet connection, and no AI processing. It simply records, ensuring a truly distraction-free and private experience right there at your table. Your precious family moments are saved securely on the device itself, giving you full control over your recordings.

To transfer recordings and free up space, simply plug the device into a computer using the USB-C port. The Connection Keeper will appear as a storage device, allowing you to manually move your files without using the internet. If you choose, you can then upload your recordings to the StoryCorps Archive by following the below step-by-step instructions.

• Create your free StoryCorps account
• Click your profile icon in the top right corner
• Select “Upload an existing interview”
• Follow the instructions on this page

Starting May 4, 2026, you will have the option to upload your recordings to the trusted StoryCorps Archive, a platform known for preserving personal stories for future generations. Uploading is completely optional and only happens if you choose to do so.

To get started, visit archive.storycorps.org/login, and create a free StoryCorps account. From there, you can follow simple step-by-step instructions to transfer your recordings from the device to your secure account. Once uploaded, you have full control over your recordings, including whether they remain private or are shared publicly as part of the StoryCorps Archive.

The StoryCorps Archive is a secure digital collection of real conversations and personal stories, built over more than 20 years by StoryCorps to preserve meaningful moments for future generations. If you choose to upload your Connection Keeper recordings, they are stored in your personal account, where you control whether they remain private or are shared publicly.

When you complete your recording, you can choose whether or not to upload your recording to the StoryCorps Archive. You have full control over if and how your conversation is saved, through privacy settings that you can change anytime. You can choose to keep your conversation entirely private or make it publicly accessible through the StoryCorps Archive – full privacy control at your fingertips. You can also delete your recording at any time.

Your recordings are yours, and how they are used is entirely up to you. By default, recordings remain private unless you choose to upload them to your StoryCorps account. If you do upload, you can decide whether to keep them private or share them publicly. If shared, your recording may become part of the StoryCorps Archive, where it can be preserved as part of a larger collection of personal stories, and may be featured in StoryCorps programming or preserved for future generations. At every step, you have full control over your privacy settings and can manage or change how your recordings are shared.

These conversations are meant to be spontaneous, authentic, and unscripted. We have a list of great questions to inspire your conversation, but ultimately, what you talk about during your recording is entirely up to you! Follow your curiosity and use this as an opportunity to ask the questions you’ve always wanted to ask, or document special moments you want to preserve.
