Ingredients

  • 3 slices bacon, cut in 1-inch pieces
  • 4 jalapeño pepper, seeded and diced (about 1 1/2 cups) (for more heat, don't remove seeds)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (14.5 ounces) Prego® Cheesy Bacon Sauce or Creamy Cheddar Cheese Sauce
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 green onion (scallion), sliced (about 2 tablespoons)

Instructions

  • Tips

    • To add a breadcrumb topping: Prior to cooking the bacon, heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1/4 cup of plain breadcrumbs or panko and cook and stir until golden brown. Remove the breadcrumbs from the skillet and set aside. Top the dip with the breadcrumbs, bacon, and green onion before serving.
  • Step 1

Cook the bacon in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat until crisp.  Drain the bacon on paper towels.  Pour off all but 1 teaspoon drippings from the skillet.

  • Step 2

Add the jalapeño peppers to the drippings in the skillet and cook for 5 minutes or until tender-crisp.  Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes or until garlic is fragrant and the peppers are softened.  Stir in the sauce and cream cheese and cook until the cream cheese is melted and the mixture is hot, stirring occasionally.  Top with the cooked bacon and the green onion and serve with your favorite chip or vegetable dippers.
