In less than an hour, you can make this simply delicious chicken dish, baked in a flavorful tomato sauce and topped with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. It's a winner!

cost per recipe: $17.21

  • 1 jar (24 ounces) Prego® Traditional Italian Sauce
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 4 ounces mozzarella cheese (about 1 cup)
  • 1 package (11.25 ounces) Pepperidge Farm® Garlic Texas Toast, prepared according to package directions

  • Tips

    • Ingredient Note: We develop our recipes using a 4-to 5-ounce skinless, boneless chicken breast half per serving. However, there are a range of sizes available in-store, from the butcher counter to the meat case and the freezer section. Use whichever you prefer- just follow the recipe as written above for the best result. If you're using larger chicken breasts they may require a little longer cooking time.
  • Step 1

Heat the oven to 375°F.  Pour the sauce into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.  Stir in half the Parmesan cheese.  Add the chicken and turn to coat.

  • Step 2

Bake for 30 minutes.  Sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese and remaining Parmesan cheese.

  • Step 3

Bake for 5 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.  Serve the chicken and sauce with the toast.

I use the chunky Prego sauces and have served the chicken over rice, over noodles and even with a baked potato! It goes well with all 3 and changes up the meal.
