This recipe proves that the smart use of convenience products, like canned chicken, picante sauce, shredded cheese and refrigerated pizza crust, gives you mouthwatering, made-from-scratch taste in very little time.

  • 1 can (12.5 ounces) Swanson® Premium White Chunk Chicken Breast in Water, drained
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup Pace® Picante Sauce
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese, Colby Jack or Cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)
  • 1 package (about 10 ounces) refrigerated pizza crust dough


  • Tips

    • Ingredient Note: Or you may use 3 cans (4.5 ounces each) Swanson® Premium White Chunk Chicken Breast in water, drained for this recipe.
  • Step 1

    Heat the oven to 425°F.

  • Step 2

    Stir the chicken, cream cheese, 1/2 cup picante sauce and shredded cheese in a medium bowl and set aside.

  • Step 3

    Unroll the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12-inch square. Cut the dough into 4 (6-inch) squares.

  • Step 4

    Place about 1/2 cup chicken mixture on half of each square. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal.

  • Step 5

    Place the folded dough squares on a baking sheet and bake for 12 minutes or until they're golden brown.

  • Step 6

    Cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute and serve with the remaining picante sauce for dipping.

    This receipe was extremely easy to make and very tasty!

    I followed the receipe except for the canned chicken. I had used it in the past and felt that it broke down to easy, so I used precooked chicken that was already seasoned! The only issue I found was the pizza dough, I had never worked with it before no neeless to say our calzones came out a bit interesting looking!

    Overall they tasted great and would definitely recommend this recipe!

    I cut up a rotisserie chicken so not as easy as canned chicken but I know it tasted better. Most of my family really liked it. My husband is not as fond of cream cheese as I am (then again, no one is) so it was just okay for him. I liked the idea of using refrigerated pizza crust. I had never used it before. Made this recipe quick and easy and gave me ideas for other things I can stuff in calzones.

    This was really great!! I used boneless skinless chicken thighs and cooked them for a few minutes in a pressure cooker. I topped the calzones with some salsa and some sour cream. This recipe is a keeper.
