Tropical Mangonada

Tropical Mangonada is sweet and tangy and a tiny bit salty- just enough to complement the other flavors and make this cocktail or mocktail just about perfect.  Start with V8+Energy Orange Pineapple, then add pureed frozen mango, tequila or non-alcoholic tequila and lime juice.  When learning how to make a mangonada, the secret ingredient is chamoy sauce.  It's a popular Mexican sauce made with dried fruit and seasonings.  Our mangonada is layered with the mango mixture and topped with mango chunks coated in chili-lime seasoning (which pairs great with fruit).  You'll want to keep the ingredients for this Tropical Mangonada recipe on hand- it's going to be a huge hit at your summer gatherings.


  • 4 cups frozen mango chunks (amount divided in recipe steps below)
  • 1 teaspoon Tajín® Clásico seasoning
  • 1 can (11.5 ounces) V8 +ENERGY® Sparkling Orange Pineapple
  • 4 fluid ounces silver tequila or non-alcoholic tequila (about 1/2 cup)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons chamoy (Mexican fruit and chili sauce)


  • Tips

    • These are great rimmed with more Tajín (dip the rims in additional chamoy, shake off excess then dip in the seasoning) and garnished with tamarind straws (sometimes called tamarind candy sticks)!  You can find the tamarind straws in the specialty foods section or online.
    • For a Spicier Version:  Add 1 additional tablespoon of chamoy per glass.

  • Step 1

    Place 1 cup mango chunks into a bowl.  Add the Tajín seasoning and toss to coat.

  • Step 2

    Place the remaining 3 cups mango chunks into a blender.  Add the V8, tequila and lime juice.  Cover and blend until smooth.

  • Step 3

    Divide the chamoy between 2 glasses and tilt the glasses to coat the bottoms.  Spoon the blended mango into the glasses and top with the seasoned mango chunks.  Serve immediately.
