Heat the oven to 350°F. Season the beef with salt and pepper. Thoroughly mix the beef, bread crumbs and egg in a large bowl. Place the beef mixture into a 13x9x2-inch baking pan and shape firmly into an 8x4-inch loaf.
Bake for 30 minutes. Spread 1/2 can soup over the meatloaf.
Bake for 30 minutes or until the meatloaf is done. Let the meatloaf stand for 10 minutes before slicing. Reserve 2 tablespoons pan drippings.
While the meatloaf is standing, heat the reserved pan drippings, the remaining soup and water in a 1-quart saucepan over medium heat until hot. Serve the gravy with the meatloaf.
East and Delicious
My mother used to make this recipe over 50 years ago. She would use a 9 x 13 pan, form a loaf in the center, cut up potatoes and place around the meatloaf and then mix the soup with 1 cup of water and pour over the top. Bake till the potatoes are fork tender.
Delicious and simple!
This was very tasty and easy. The only changes I made were I had 2 lbs of ground beef to use, and I added 1/4 can of the soup into the mix. Served with green beans and mashed potatoes, yum! The gravy is great too. Definitely a keeper :)
Easy Meatloaf Recipe and delish to!
My only 2 variations are I add the soup into the mix and also add a package of Onion Soup mix as well. If I have left overs French's Onion, I also add some of that across the top. Everyone loves this meatloaf, I make it 3 lbs at a time and there are never any leftovers!!
I needed to make something soft since my husband had to have dental work done, so I thought I'd try this. I added chopped onions and used 2lbs of meat, the family loved it. My picky 23yr old even ate it. I will be making this again but I'm going to add chopped mushrooms too.
