Ingredients

  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Chicken with Herbs Soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons shredded fresh sage leaves (you can use a little less for a more subtle herb flavor)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (about 6 ounces)
  • 1 tablespoon butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds russet potato, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch thick slices (about 4 cups)
  • 1 butternut squash (about 2 1/2 pounds), peeled, seeded and cut into 1/4-inch thick slices (about 5 cups)

  • Tips

    • For butternut squash that's easier to peel and cut, prick the squash all over with a fork then microwave on HIGH for 5 to 6 minutes.  Let stand until cool enough to handle before peeling and cutting.
  • Step 1

    Heat the oven to 400°F.  Mix the soup, milk and sage in a medium bowl.  Stir in 1 cup cheese.

  • Step 2

    Lightly grease a 9x9x2-inch baking dish with the butter.  Arrange the slices of potato and squash, overlapping slightly in a circular pattern. Season with salt and pepper.  Spread the soup mixture over the vegetables.  Cover the baking dish.

  • Step 3

    Bake for 1 hour or until the vegetables are tender.  Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup cheese and bake for another 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.  Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
