The creamy sauce perfectly highlights the tortellini and asparagus, and a finish of crumbled bacon makes it extra delicious. Not only does this easy weekday meal feel like a weekend treat, cleanup is a breeze- you make everything right in the same skillet.

  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1 carton (32 ounces) Swanson® Natural Goodness® Chicken Broth
  • 1 1/2 pounds asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces (about 5 cups)
  • 16 ounces uncooked refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 4 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled (about 1/4 cup)

  • Tips

    • How to choose asparagus: When choosing fresh asparagus, look for spears that are firm (should feel like they will snap if you bend them) and tips that are tightly closed and not mushy. Thick or thin spears are really a matter of preference, with thin tending to be more tender. Just make sure that you trim the bottoms if they are dried out or woody.
    • You can substitute 2 1/2 cups thawed frozen peas for the asparagus, if you like.
  • Step 1

Heat the soup and broth in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat to a boil.  Stir in the asparagus and cook for 5 minutes.

  • Step 2

Add in the tortellini and cook for an additional 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tortellini is tender, the asparagus is easily pierced with a knife, and the soup mixture is thickened.

  • Step 3

Stir in the bacon.  Season to taste.  Season with cracked black pepper, if desired.  Serve in shallow bowls.
