Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Italian-style dry bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 can (10 1/2 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Bacon Soup
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded reduced fat sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives
  • 3 cups cooked elbow macaroni or cavatappi (from about 6 ounces/1 1/2 cups dry)

  • Tips

    • For even more bacon flavor, stir 2 tablespoons crumbled cooked bacon into the soup mixture.
    • For a cheesier crust, add 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese to the bread crumb mixture and stir to incorporate.
  • Step 1

    Set the oven to 425°F.  Grease a 2-quart casserole.  Stir the bread crumbs and butter in a small bowl.

    Whisk the soup and milk together in a large bowl until smooth, with no lumps remaining. Stir in the cheese, chives and macaroni until evenly incorporated.  Spoon the macaroni mixture into the casserole.  Sprinkle with the bread crumb mixture, smoothing the top with a spatula if necessary to ensure even distribution.

  • Step 3

    Bake for 15 minutes or until hot and bubbling.  Let the mac and cheese rest for 5 minutes after removing from oven, to allow the cheese sauce to thicken. To finish, sprinkle a fresh herb atop, like parsley or chives.
