Salty bites of ham are the perfect contrast to sharp cheddar cheese in this easy, crowd-pleasing skillet casserole. In this recipe, egg noodles are added to the classic pairing for a mac n’ cheese meets ham-and-cheese mashup that makes a simple, but satisfying dish even the pickiest of eaters will enjoy. This ham and noodle casserole is a great way to transform leftovers into a whole new meal.

cost per recipe: $14.47

  • 8 ounces uncooked extra wide egg noodles (about 4 1/2 cups)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cups cubed cooked ham
  • 1 medium onion, diced (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1 can (10 1/2 ounces) Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup or 98% Fat Free Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded extra sharp Cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)

  • Tips

    • Serving Suggestion: Serve with glazed baby carrots: steam carrots with a touch of butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. For dessert serve vanilla yogurt with fresh blueberries.
  • Step 1

Cook and drain the noodles according to the package directions.  While the noodles are cooking, heat the oil in a 10-inch skillet.  Add the ham and onion and cook until the onion is tender.

  • Step 2

Stir in the soup and milk and heat to a boil.  Reduce the heat to low.  Add half the cheese and stir until melted.  Add the cooked noodles and stir to coat.  Season to taste.

  • Step 3

Top the noodle mixture with the remaining cheese (the heat from the noodle mixture will melt it).  Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley before serving, if desired.

I have never been one to not follow a recipe, but I was looking for a recipe that used ham and Cream of Mushroom Soup. I didn't have enough cheese or egg noodles, so I used macaroni and the following cheeses, which I had on hand: cheddar, hot pepper, and cream cheese. I also added about 1/2 clove of garlic (in with the ham and onion) for flavor. It was really good! It was like mac'n cheese with ham and onions. Mmmmmm mmmmmm good! I think this recipe is one that would be good with whatever you have on hand... throw it in there! Very versatile.

Fast and easy. But used cream of potato soup instead of the mushroom. Very yummy!

Delicious but I subbed Mushroom Soup with Cheddar Cheese soup. Green beans and a salad. Dinner in less than half an hour. Hubby is usually a finicky eater but he loved this

I had extra ham after Christmas and wanted to make something different. I made the recipe as stated except I did not have any Cream of Mushroom soup, but I had leftover green bean casserole which has the soup in it so I used them. They really added nice color and good taste. I added a cup of milk as others have suggested and it was ready in 15 minutes. My family loved it!
